moved

Got moved and settled into new apartment. The living set-up is good, bad fungi chi or whatever it's called, my back when at the desk is to the door. But over-all, it's set up good.

Getting interment good time to write. One of the kids (22) passed his driving test, it won't be long until he has a car and that will free me up of driving them around everyday.

Something I wrote many years ago...
With Americans new TV viewing season underway, it seemed to fit.

Press The Remote

     Scanning bland television bands.
Nothing new, nothing fresh.
     Voids of mindless muddle.

     Concoctions of grand delusion.
     Dreams of tomorrow, gone.

     Faded blue hazy glows.
    Enslaved and held captive

     Simply press the remote.
     Another station, another snare.
     Trapped in hypnotic trances
     Clutched by idiotic dilemmas.
Disenchanted.

Thumbing, surfing into narrowed realties.

     Father, mother, brother, sister transposed
With friends in smell rose spaces
Living in unreachable zip-code places
An autograph if you please

Powerless, just another thumb of the remote.
In search of perfect friendships. Perfect parents.
     A perfect mate. Perfect children.
It’s a perfect home life improved.

Press the remote, again and again.
     Simpletons plight of images.
Tromping the vast mind-fields of broadcast bands.

creating a society - culture for science fiction

Real life partly reflecting an education system for an unpublished novel, Ages Past...

http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=3568769&page=1

The school system in Kansas City, MO has done away with Middle Schools, keeping grades K through Eight in one building, so that students will have one teacher and quote: "The kids will calm down when they can be role models for the younger students"

That theme of "role models" is part the culture's educational system in Ages Past. It is expected for older students too mentor younger students.

Yes, there are vast differences with other parts of their educational system. The role model thing is very present in Ages Past.

There are somethings I've written about future societies that I pray never come true. It's nice to see something postive in a story I've written come to life in reality. Yeah, I do realize my unpublished novel had nothing to do with the changes for the Kansas City school system...

As a writer, feeling the pulse of society is a must.
