Joined the ranks of unemployed July 17th.  Still waiting for unemployment benefits to kick in, provided my former employer doesn't fight it. Should find out by this coming Wed.

Did a little writing, difficult when worried about money, truck repo pending and behind on rent. Once the unemployment kicks in, can rest a little easier and get some writing done between job hunting.  A my age 52 and the US ecomony, ha. ha. ha....

Was planing on self publishing one of my earlier SF stories via create space and amazon.com / Once my unemployment kicks in, will pay a friend with editing experience to red pen first, then go and fix errors.  Have a cover design in mind for it.

Will keep everyone posted,

Robert

Years ago, had a nick name in the music industry.  A friend suggested that I use it...

Cosmo...

Mike suggested, Cosmo Ash....  Does have a nice ring to it.

Anythoughts?  Should I stay with Robert Gage, revert to another past one or Cosmo Gage, Cosmo Ash - Cosmo by itself and drive bookstores nuts as to where to place it on a shelve - or Cosmo ????

Novel writing month is nearing...  Goal to avoid all stress....

One stress issue taken care of:  Identity theft resolved, no damage done.  I have my credit rating on fraud alert for two months.  Do not plan on applying for credit anytime soon or moving until after the first of the year, should not effect me.

Thanks for all the support of NaNoMo...

Just learned someone around town is used my identity at a "rent to own" place.

The business was closed, so will have to check on that tomorrow....

Ouch, I was hoping to use my VA loan i a year or two for a house...  I'm sure my credit rating is under siege at the moment.

Something I wrote many years ago...
With Americans new TV viewing season underway, it seemed to fit.

Press The Remote

     Scanning bland television bands.
Nothing new, nothing fresh.
     Voids of mindless muddle.

     Concoctions of grand delusion.
     Dreams of tomorrow, gone.

     Faded blue hazy glows.
    Enslaved and held captive

     Simply press the remote.
     Another station, another snare.
     Trapped in hypnotic trances
     Clutched by idiotic dilemmas.
Disenchanted.

 Thumbing, surfing into narrowed realties.

     Father, mother, brother, sister transposed
With friends in smell rose spaces
Living in unreachable zip-code places
An autograph if you please

Powerless, just another thumb of the remote.
In search of perfect friendships.  Perfect parents.
     A perfect mate.  Perfect children.
It’s a perfect home life improved.

Press the remote, again and again.
     Simpletons plight of images.
Tromping the vast mind-fields of broadcast bands.

Real life partly reflecting an education system for an unpublished novel, Ages Past...

http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=3568769&page=1

The school system in Kansas City, MO has done away with Middle Schools, keeping grades K through Eight in one building, so that students will have one teacher and quote:  "The kids will calm down when they can be role models for the younger students"

That theme of "role models" is part the culture's educational system in Ages Past.  It is expected for older students too mentor younger students.

Yes, there are vast differences with other parts of their educational system.  The role model thing is very present in Ages Past.

There are somethings I've written about future societies that I pray never come true.  It's nice to see something postive in a story I've written come to life in reality.   Yeah, I do realize my unpublished novel had nothing to do with the changes for the Kansas City school system...

As a writer, feeling the pulse of society is a must.
